  • What is a Yardang Landform?

The word “Yardang” comes from the Uyghur language, meaning a “steep bank.” It was first introduced to the scientific world by the Swedish explorer Sven Hedin in the early 20th century.

And how the Yardang landforms are formed? Actually, It is the geological foundation for developing this terrain, specifically the presence of lake sedimentary strata. Second is external erosion, driven by the powerful directional winds of the desert and the corrosive action of flowing water.

Under prolonged wind abrasion, the lower sections of small hills often undergo intense erosion, gradually forming inward-curving shapes.
