1. When is the Best Time to Visit Chengdu?
Chengdu receives a lot of rainfall, and most days are cloudy with occasional sunshine. The best time to visit Chengdu is from March to June and from September to November, excluding the Labor Day holiday (May 1-3/5) China National Day holiday (Oct. 1-7). 2. Where is the Best Place to Meet Giant Pandas?
There are 4 panda bases in and around Chengdu, including the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Dujiangyan Panda Base, Wolong Giant Panda Nature Reserve, and Bifengxia Panda Base. Each of them has unique features. Among them, the Chengdu Panda Base is the closest to downtown Chengdu. Dujiangyan and Wolong panda bases offer a panda volunteer program.
3. What are the Best Things to Do in Chengdu?
Here are the highlights and top things to do in Chengdu:
- Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (shortly Chengdu Panda Base): The largest giant panda conservation base in the world. Only about 30 minutes' drive from downtown.
- Leshan Giant Buddha: The world's biggest stone Buddha statue at 233 feet (71 meters) in height.
- Mount Qingcheng: Kung Fu Panda Po's hometown, and one of the birthplaces of Taoism with beautiful scenery and ancient temples.

4. How many days do I need for a Chengdu tour?
If you have only one full day in Chengdu, consider visiting Chengdu Panda Base in the morning when the giant pandas are at their most active. Then enjoy the afternoon leisurely, such as sipping a cup of tea in the People's Park and eating spicy local foods at Jinli Street.
If you have 2 to 4 days in Chengdu, or meet the requirements of the 144-hour visa free policy, you can take a tour from Chengdu to Mount Qingcheng, Leshan Giant Buddha, Mount Emei, or Jiuzhaigou Valley.
If you have 5 or more days, you can enjoy a deeper exploration of the enchanting land of Sichuan Province. Explore the snow-capped Four Girls Mountain, the ice waterfall at Haiguolou, heavenly Xinduqiao Town, the exotic Tibetan culture, etc.
