Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Urumqi, visit Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Museum

Upon the arrival of Urumqi airport, you will be met and transferred to hotel. If time permits, pay a visit to Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Museum to have some knowledge of the history and minority culture.

Day 2 Visit Heavenly Lake and Red Hill Park

Drive 120km northeast to the Heavenly Lake with an elevation of 2000 meters above sea level. The beautiful lake is flanked by rugged pines and cypresses, with melted clear waters reflecting the surrounding of snow capped highest peak-Bogda (5445 m), boating in the lake. Then drive back to Urumqi. If time allows, visit the Red Hill Park (the symbol of Urumqi city).

Heavenly Lake

Day 3 Drive to Turpan, visit ruins of Jiaohe and Ancient Karez

After breakfast, drive 2.5 hours to Turpan, on the way pass by Urumqi Wind Power Mill. As the lowest depression of China, Turpan is a Uygur town set in a large oasis surrounding by desert and mountains. Proceed to visit the ruins of Jiaohe, which was a prosperous ancient trading center and military stronghold about 1600 years ago. And then visit Ancient Karez, the underground water supply & irrigation system.

Day 4 Turpan tour, then drive back to Urumqi for flight to Kashgar

In the morning, visit the Emin Minaret, the Flaming Mountain & Bezeklik Thousand Caves, and the ancient city of Gaochang. Then have lunch at local restaurant. Drive back to Urumqi and fly to Kashgar in the late afternoon.

Day 5 Visit Karakul Lake

Drive through the Karakurum Highway to Karakul Lake (180km), enjoy the beautiful view of snow-capped mountains of Muztagh Ata and its lake. Afternoon drive back to Kashgar.

Day 6 Explore the Grand Sunday bazaar of Kashgar, Etgar Mosque, Abakh Khoja Mausoleum, etc.

Explore the Grand Sunday bazaar of Kashgar, which is a highlight of this trip. You will see the largest outdoor market in the Mid-Asia here! Visit Etgar Mosque and the Abakh Khoja Mausoleum, and the old town of Kashgar. Transfer to airport flight to Urumqi.
